Rob Brookwell had good news. No change in the cost of membership dues for 2016-17. Expect an email invoice this week. He mentioned the District Conference in Canmore May 13, 14, 15. He hopes more members will sign up.

Madeline King recognized Bruce Fenwick and Frank Sparks for their efforts regarding introducing new members to Rotary.

Howard Shikaze, Chair of the Signature Legacy Grants Committee, spoke about the areas of granting focus as Healthcare,
Sports/Entertainment/Recreation and a new area called “Moving People Forward”. He reminded us that next spring his Committee will be awarding Legacy Grant(s). Past grants like the Rotary Flames House would fit under Health Care. The current grant for the Rotary Mattamy Greenway fits under Recreation. He invited Rotarians who want to better understand the area of “Moving People Forward” to join him on a United Way/City of Calgary organized tour of three sites in the Northeast including developing community hubs at Village Square Leisure Centre, Genesis Centre and in Greater Forest Lawn area. The date is May 5 meet at 3:30 PM depart at 3:40 pm and return by 7:00 pm.  (Thanks to Michael Colborne for providing the bus transportation from Renfrew). We will meet at Renfrew Aquatic & Recreation Centre: 810 13 Ave NE. There is ample free parking and the location is a quick 10 minute drive from downtown on Edmonton Trail. Anyone  interested is welcome to attend plus members of United Way and The City’s executive and community teams. The purpose of the tour is to see the tremendous impact Community Hubs will have on the future of Calgary first-hand and bring the Community Hubs investment opportunity currently before Rotary to life. Please RSVP your attendance and any dietary restrictions to Andrea.Wall@calgaryunitedway.org by Wednesday, May 4.

The meeting ended and the fellowship continued.
