Klaus Reichwald

Klaus Reichwald came to Canada as a young man with his family, arriving in Edmonton in 1956. At age 16, he began work with a local construction company, earning $1.00 per hour.

By 1961 he was a master electrician, the youngest in Alberta. In 1963, he moved to Calgary and, with a friend, started work with what would become Western Electrical Management Ltd. He eventually bought into the company and grew it into one of Western Canada's largest electrical contractors.

Through his career, Klaus became a Rotarian. His financial support of our Foundations became second only to that of Ev Mayhood. Klaus also held memberships in Rotary in Scottsdale and Kelowna, where he and his wife Lydia maintained homes. He was an active and financial supporter of both of those clubs.

Klaus passed away on March 31, 2018. We honour his memory and the standard he has set for commitment to Rotary's foundations.
