Meeting of December 6

Introduction by Sid. Oh Canada. Invocation by Bev Gallagher.

We had four guests from the United Way including present CEO Dr. Lucy Miller and incoming CEO Karen Young. Also in attendance was CPS’ Deputy Chief Trevor Daroux and three guests from the City of Calgary.

At Carmen’s urging we sang “Merry” Birthday to all, including the two in attendance, George Brookman and Charles Pratt.

Bill Ptacek and Barb Burggraf celebrate Library program	Bill Ptacek talked about our donation to their program and how much good it did. Library funded daycare. 4,000 kids provided literacy skills. Helen Hu advised that RCC has been invited to the Rotary Club of Calgary South’s Chinese New Year party, January 20, 2017. Price is $50 for a 10 course meal (or $450 for a table of 10). Contact Helen if interested.
George Brookman solicits Hamper help	George Brookman spoke about our Christmas Hampers program. He need 100 people or groups to donate $250 each. Please send cheques to the office. Although not mentioned at the meeting but still relevant …David Holden asked for volunteers for the communication committee with a specific request for anyone interested in the COG. Steps have been taken recently to ease the workload burden of the COG Editor’s role in hopes of attracting keen new blood. Anyone interested in this role, or with communications in general, please email David at dholdea077@yahoo.ca
Christmas in the lobby	BBQ Rotary shirts are available for purchase (will make a great Christmas gift) at Rotary meetings until Christmas (Gord Walker, Tony Howard, or Brian Guichon). Price is $60
