Meet Your Directors - Lori Forand
Lori Forand
Lori Forand is our Director of Community Services. She has written this profile in response to questions about her experience with Rotary and club members wish to know a little about her professional and personal life.

Lori quickly discovered that her skills and knowledge could serve both her local community and those in need globally. Volunteering at local Rotary events allowed her to connect with fellow Rotarians while directly benefiting the community. On the international front, Lori was introduced to Walter and Anne Haessle”s work providing wheelchairs for children in Vietnam. This inspired her to travel to Cambodia to oversee a similar project, with a follow up trip planned for this coming fall.
In 2021, Lori joined Manon Mitchell in Uganda for a Menstrual Hygiene project where they helped challenge cultural myths around menstruation, impacting thousands of lives in the process. Her international work also led her to serve on the Board for two years representing Rotary's global impact, and she currently serves as the Treasurer for the World Community Service Committee.
On the local side, Lori has enjoyed mentoring in the Stay in School Program, helping two individuals graduate high school. Now, as the Community Services Chair on the Board, she’s excited to learn about and support the incredible work done by fellow committee members.
Professionally, Lori holds a Bachelor of Nursing and a Master’s in Communication Studies from the University of Calgary. She is currently the Manager of the Academic Family Medicine Teaching Centre at the Sheldon M. Chumir Medical Centre. In this new role, Lori is passionate about supporting the development of new family physicians while ensuring high-quality patient care.
Previously, Lori managed many Ambulatory areas at South Health Campus. She led a team of approximately 200 staff, collaborating with medical leads, and managing a $15 million budget.
With her new career path bringing her closer to her Rotary headquarters, Lori is excited to devote more time to Rotary and is looking forward to meeting international colleagues at this year’s convention. She’s eager to continue supporting Rotary's mission and contributing to its impactful work in the years ahead.
