The Head Table made an elegant entrance to the Alberta Room with the beautiful accompaniment of Manon Mitchell's violin on Tuesday. She played "You Are My Sunshine", which was well suited to the beautiful day.

President Rob called the meeting to order with the suggestion that we change the structure of the meeting to better accommodate our speaker's schedule.
After the national anthem, our Greeter,  Brent Buechler was asked to give the Invocation.
 
Eavesdropping at the table, Roy Boettger was asking Bill Avery what he was going to be for Halloween. "Invisible", said Bill.
 
Carmen Goss announced the visitors and our member's birthdays. Again, it was a treat to sing Happy Birthday with violin accompaniment.
 
Although previously noted that the nominee for President Elect would be announced at the November 3rd meeting, the By-Laws state that "The nominating committee for President will advise the Club of their nominee for President at the last regular meeting of the Club during October of that year."  As the Nominating committee of Past Presidents, President, President-Elect and second year Directors has now completed its task, Bruce Fenwick announced the nomination of Bill Avery as President Elect for 2017-2018. 
 
The committee is confident that Bill will bring energy, leadership and dedication to the role, it is important that members have the opportunity, as per the By-Laws,  to nominate other candidates if you so choose. Nominations will remain open for additional nominees for two weeks until 12:00 PM November 10th.
 
The signature of 12 members and of the nominee must accompany any such nominations. Should additional nominees be forthcoming, an election that includes ballot distribution to all members as per the by-laws, will be arranged.
 
If there are no additional nominees by noon November 10th, Bill Avery would be declared the President-Elect for 2017-18.
 
As November is Foundation Month, Bruce will be raising awareness at all of the meetings in the coming weeks. He began with presentations to a group of Paul Harris award winners.
 
The Big International Event will be held November 24th at the Telus SPARK. Madeleine King will be chairing the event and she began with an auction of 
Catherine Brownlee's home baked butter tarts. Michael Broadhurst was the successful bidder and shared his winnings with the Club.
 
Michael was pleased to welcome our Kent Hehr as our newest Liberal MP.
 
President Rob adjourned the meeting with the announcement that Ken King will be our speaker next week.
