Granting Strategy Task Force Survey Results

Thank you to all Club Members who completed the Granting Strategy Task Force’s (GSTF) Club Survey!
Through the Granting Strategy Focus Groups that were held earlier this year, feedback revealed a desire to survey Club members regarding one of the key elements of the strategy- the local discretionary granting priorities. The GSTF therefore developed a survey in April 2024 to canvas members regarding their views on the Club’s local discretionary granting priorities, as well as members’ capacity and interest to engage in these priorities.
Club members received 2 emails, a newsletter (COG) article and a request at a lunch meeting to participate in the survey. The online survey was open from April 14 to May 1, 2024. Forty-two (42) Club members completed the survey.
Major survey results include the following:
- Very strong support for the Club’s continued work and focus on its current priorities which include the following community issues: Early Childhood Literacy; Education; Food Security; Mental Wellness.
- A desire for some flexibility to support other urgent, compelling community issues, with some cautions to do so only when Club member interest and capacity exists.
- Stronger Club member interest and capacity to engage in the Club’s current priorities than in other community issues.
- Significant willingness and ability to become involved in the Club’s Granting Committees and in volunteering for community service activities.
- Limited willingness and ability engage in fundraising, communications, and offering vocational service.
- A desire for the Club to have a significant, sustained community impact by engaging with projects RCCD supports in multiple ways (e.g. grants, community service activities, convening stakeholders, Club member expertise), and on a longer-term, ongoing basis.
- An underlying appreciation from the respondents that they were engaged at the grassroots level and throughout this process.
The survey is one of the sources that will inform the local discretionary granting strategy recommendations. These recommendations will be forthcoming in June. Thank you to all who have offered valuable input through the focus groups, survey, and other means! Click here to see the raw data.
