Every month President Manon has been featuring what our club does in the specific themed area proposed by Rotary International. November is Foundations month, when we celebrate our two (2) Foundations:
- The Rotary Foundation aka TRF
- Calgary Rotary Clubs Foundation aka CRCF
Any Amount Counts Campaign
This year the Foundations Committee and the Board of Directors are inviting you to participate in a special campaign to raise awareness and increase the number of donors to TRF and/or CRCF.
We encourage all Rotarians to make their yearly contribution or perhaps event start a regular monthly contribution to the Foundations to increase our impact globally and locally.
You will receive information at club meetings, via email and, of course, in the COG to guide you through the steps in making donations to either or both of our Foundations.
Foundations are what provide us the money to make a significant impact both locally and globally. Without CRCF, our Rotarians would have to work much harder on fundraising. By growing CRCF we could invest in many more meaningful and sustainable projects right here in our community.
Every year, our Small Donations Committee and Major Donations Committee receive way more requests than they can handle. It is up to us, club members, to continue building the funds in CRCF so that we can grow our capacity to make a difference.
Recognition
Donors to both our Foundations receive recognition for their contributions. The official recognition program for Rotary is the Paul Harris Pin. There are 8 Paul Harris Fellow Levels, each one with its own pin and gem stone configuration.
For donations to TRF: for each US dollar you donate, you receive 1 Paul Harris Fellow (PHF) Recognition Point from TRF. Once you have reached 1,000 PHF Recognition points (or a donation of $1,000 USD) you are recognized with your first Paul Harris pin having achieved Paul Harris Level 1. You continue accumulating points till you reach Paul Harris Level 8 which explains acronyms such as PH+4 or PH+6. You can achieve these levels through your donations or receipt of other Rotarians' transferring their Foundation Recognition Points points to you.
Above Paul Harris Level 8, you enter the "Major Donor Level 1". This is only achieved after a cumulative donation of $10,000 USD. PHF Recognition Points do not contribute to the status of Major Donor - only donated funds matter at this level and above.
Once you start donating, you receive Foundation Recognition Points available for TRANSFER at your discretion!
We'll send you an email about how you can view your Donor History Report and watch your points increase over time.
During this campaign, Rotarians who have accumulated Foundation Recognition Points can encourage others to make donations and reach their PH Level if they choose to do so. For example, if someone gives $300 to TRF by November 23rd 2021, you may receive up to 800 PHF recognition points and get your first Paul Harris Fellowship pin. There are several generous Rotarians who are ready to transfer their Foundation Recognition Points!
For donations to CRCF: Donors to CRCF are recognized in the following manner:
1) You will receive a stylish CRCF pin
2) Your name will be displayed in the annual report
3) Your name can be placed on the Mayhood Honour Roll when you commit to making regular contributions. More details are available by contacting Sid Mark, chair of the Foundations Committee.
