Dandelion Strategy Wins Simpson Award

CanLearn Society celebrated its 45^th anniversary on Friday September 6 at Lougheed House. Entitled “A Sapphire Story: 45 Years of Changing Lives”, the evening featured a great scavenger hunt raising awareness of the impact this organization has had on our community through literacy and learning programs.

 

Our own Rotarian, Steacy Pinney, and the Dandelion Strategy were celebrated for receiving this year’s Simpson Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to Calgary’s literacy community. When Calgary Reads closed its doors, the community was heartbroken. But thanks to Steacy’s visionary leadership and collaboration with incredible partners—Mount Royal University, United for Literacy, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The Owerko Centre at U of C, YWCA, Vibrant Communities, Rotary Club of Calgary, the seeds of literacy support spread  across Calgary, growing stronger than ever. What seemed like a loss turned into an incredible gain for our community. Congratulations, Steacy, for your tireless work in making literacy a vital part of every organization!
