![]() | I hope you are doing well physically and emotionally during this period of social distancing. Admittedly, I am finding this time to be somewhat disorienting. While social distancing means we are meeting via Zoom for the foreseeable future, there are benefits, such as having a Rotarian from Guatemala joining in this week’s meeting with Rotary International President Mark Maloney. Another is that we are each saving about $50 a week in meal and parking costs. |
But while we are experiencing those benefits of technology, others in our community are suffering in many unpredictable ways. As a result, The Rotary Club of Calgary Downtown – YOUR Rotary Club – has established a COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund.
How much can we raise? Using $50 per week would mean a donation of $500 per member should be possible @ 100% attendance. If all of our 160 active members rise to this challenge, we could generate $80,000.
But even $50,000 would enable the club to help our Calgary community to better cope with the many, many diverse challenges. Our slimmer waistlines can make a big difference to the welfare of others.
Funds received will be spent on priority projects in the Calgary area.
Please make your donation today. And thanks for making us all proud to be part of this great club and to call ourselves Rotarians.
Just click https://www.rotaryclubofcalgary.org/sitepage/donate, and select Make a General Donation to the COVID-19 Fund. You can also mail a cheque to the Rotary office, entering COVID-19 Fund in the Memo line.
Yours in Rotary,
President Rick
