Club’s 3-year Granting Strategy
The four banners at our club meetings reminds us that our Board, at its July 2024 meeting, approved a 3-year granting strategy. This was the conclusion of a two-year journey, led by Randy Topolnitsky, of club engagement to create a platform for club renewal and growth. The strategy outlines four areas of focus: education, food security, mental wellness and early childhood literacy for the club’s investment of its discretionary dollars locally. This is done through its committees: the new formed legacy, major donations, small donations, early childhood literacy and youth.
The funding strategy’s implementation plan outlined the formation of 7 groups to ensure its implementation: legacy, granting, communication, membership, programs and fellowship, finance, human resources. In a meeting with President Joe, Incoming President Bill and President Elect Doug, it was concluded that this outline was too cumbersome.
These groups have been condensed into an implementation group. These will be composed of clubs committee chairs and vice-chairs. The group will convene at least quarterly to “check-in” on the implementation of the club’s strategy and update the club and board. Franco Savoia will convene this group.
On February 18, 2025 the strategy implementation group gathered for a check-in in a hybrid meeting. Committee chairs provided updates. The legacy committee is reviewing 7 applications; Major Donations is reviewing a large number of applications submitted through Rotary Helps YYC and Membership updated the recruitment and onboarding of new members. Discussions focused on the four areas of focus and ways in which they may be leveraged to create interest and relevance to the community through the new launched club’s website. Suggestions were also made on leveraging our relationships with all of Rotary’s community partners and shared social media.
A second group of “area of focus” advocates is being convened. The areas of focus advocates will be club members who will engage in the community and deepen their knowledge of each of the areas. Steacy Pinney will convene this group. Club members interested in being an area of focus advocate is asked to contact Steacy Pinney.
