Bread ... it's an App?

Yes, Bread. It's a new app to assist Calgarians in need to more easily access emergency food.
The Major Donations Committee of RCCD, the Calgary West Rotary Club, United Way and Calgary Foundation are funding the development of Bread, an app to assist Calgarians in need to more easily access emergency food.  NSTEP is the fiscal agent for the collaborative.  The project is being championed by Food Collaborative YYC, of which RCCD is a member. NSTEP has signed an MOU with Technology Helps to develop the app.
Technology Helps conducted interviews during September and October with some of the emergency food providers to better understand the current delivery system with its strengths and challenges. Currently there are focus groups with emergency food recipients.
It is hoped that by early December there will be an initial Beta version for Bread that can be tested.

Rotary and the Food Collaborative YYC is championing the development of the app and its adoption by emergency food providers.

This couldn’t be happening at a more critical time. Food insecurity in Calgary is at an all time high.  Our city has one of the highest levels of food insecurity in Canada. Rotary is around the table with other community leaders to find short term and longer terms solutions to this major issue in the city.
