Consider making a huge difference in the life of one Calgary kid! Our Stay-in-School Program (SIS) has welcomed 11 new students in grades 5/6 over the past couple of weeks!
The SIS Committee received two applications from our partner schools of West Dover, O.S Geiger, Valley View, St. Damien and Holy Cross, and one application from our partner at the Fish Creek Rotary Club.
Committee members held interviews with the parents, school staff and students and then presented a certificate and Chromebook to the selected students at the schools’ year end assembly. These students will now be matched with a mentor, all the way until they graduate high school!
Mentoring is such a rewarding activity for both you and the student. Rotarians say they join Rotary to volunteer. HERE’S THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY!
We currently do not have mentors lined up for all 11 students and are looking for interested individuals to please email, Alana Sargent, our SIS Coordinator, at stayinschool@rotaryclubofcalgary.ca.
