Dr. Bhavini Gohel (Alberta Room)
Maya Devi's Dream
Please join us Feb. 13th to  welcome & hear Dr. Bhavini Gohel, BSc, MBBS, MD, CCFP (COE) as our keynote who will talk about "Maya Devi's Dream". Dr. Gohel wears several hats:  She is the Hospitalist Physician at the South Health Campus, Medical Director of Seton Senior Community, Agecare Enhances Skills Care of the Elderly Program Director & Clinical Lecturer a the U of C's Cummings Medical School.  But, as President Bill would say, "that's not all" :  She is also the Medical Director for the CHILD Foundation, a Calgary based organization whose mission is the operation of a charitable hospital in Sarurpur in northern India, with a focus on maternal and infant medical care provided by both a robust educational program and in-clinic treatment.

In this latter role, Dr. Gohel has been undertaking significant research on "best practices" for delivering care in such communities -- communities where electricity is intermittent, where 80% of women are illiterate and where safe drinking water is uncommon.  She is plumbing the depths of the WHO databases, other organizations working in a similar area of care.

Those who have heard her speak at the annual Maya's Dream Gala and her presentation was both engaging and compelling, and will surely be a refreshing presence at our meeting.
