Happy thoughts

Happy thoughts included an anniversary celebration on the Oregon coast, a new puppy, various successful home repair projects, and cider-making.

Three of our members are attending the Rotary Leadership Institute. Registration closes on September 20th, so if you’re interested in attending sign up now.

In another call to action, Lyn requested everyone to update their profiles on Club Runner. If you have questions about how to use Club Runner, please contact Alex Bonesteel at 360-632-2635, or alex@alexbonesteel.com/

Sharon presented two proposed bylaw changes. A vote was held and both changes received unanimous approval by the full membership.

  1. New section that requires returning members to go through the same process as a new member if they wish to re-join the Club.

  2. Modify current leave laws to allow a leave of absence for “up to” six months.  

Reminder

Instead of meeting at China City for the next few weeks, we will meet in the following locations:

  • September 21: Enso House (work party)

  • September 28: Interact installation at WiFire

  • October 5: Seahawks game social at WiFire

  • October 12: District governor visit (location tbd)

Program

Hank Adolfi gave a talk on New Generations in Rotary, which covered the Interact Club, RYLA, and YAIL youth programs. He emphasized the need to establish a strong relationship with youth, acknowledged the exceptional work done, and the need for a long term investment in these programs. Future opportunities to support youth include vocational scholarships, vocational mentoring, and foreign student exchange programs such as the Rotary Youth Exchange and Youth Experiencing Service (YES).
