Salsa Contest Guidelines and Information

Date: Friday, May 5, 2023, at the NM Veterans Memorial

(1100 Louisiana Blvd NE)

Fee: Only one (1) entry per contestant accepted ‐ $5 entry fee added to the ticket price

Prizes awarded for most votes: People’s Choice – 1st, 2nd and 3rd Places

About the Contest…

• Contestants must be 21 years of age.
• Pre‐Registration is required for all contestants – the deadline is Tuesday, May 2, 2023
• A maximum of 15 contestants (with one salsa each) will be accepted into the contest – No entries accepted on contest day.
• Your salsa must be kept at 41 degrees in a sealable food safe container.
• Please bring a minimum of two quarts or a maximum of a gallon.
• Please bring your salsa at 5:30PM, and we'll give you gloves and a ladle to put one-ounce servings in small paper cups for the tasting ahead of the doors opening to attendees.
• It will be a blind taste test; guests will be given one of the small containers and sample your salsa with the chips provided.
• Public voting starts when the event opens 6:00 PM and ends at 8:00 PM. All winners will be announced at 8:30 PM on the main stage.
• Please email a detailed list of ingredients (not the amounts!! :) by Tuesday, May 2nd - this is only for allergy communication purposes, we don't want your secret recipe!!!! :)

Other things to know…

• No selling of salsa will be permitted from contestants.
• Filling cups should be filled to a 1 oz level. Under no circumstance may any tasting cup be used twice! Contestants must ALWAYS require a new, unused cup for each tasting.
• All booth areas must be cleared and left clean by the end of the contest.
