LaWanda is a wife and mother of two boys with a love for the theater and her community.  She is a community volunteer that was awarded the 2015 Distinguished Volunteer of the Year for the City of Biloxi and was selected as a One Coast Top 10 Under 40 in 2015.   She is a member of the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center Board of Directors as well as a member of the Biloxi Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and holds a leadership position as the Vice Chair of Membership She was also recognized by the Lighthouse Business and Professional Women as their 2019 Non-Profit Division Women of Achievement recipient.  She is a 2020 graduate of Leadership Gulf Coast.  She works full time as the Community Development Manager for the American Cancer Society specializing in the Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk, Real Men Wear Pink, Relay for Life and community outreach.
