President Lola's Theme for December: Gratefulness

A great message from President Lola which she delivered at the multi-club Christmas Party:
The Rotary After Five Message comes from the Theme of Gratefulness!
During the Holiday Season I think people are reminded to be grateful and they celebrate that.
I was reading a couple of weeks ago that Gratitude is one of our most powerful emotions …. therefore we should take time EVERYDAY to reflect on what we have-not just at Christmas.
So at Rotary After Five we are grateful for the support from all of you (fellow Rotarians). With one year under our belt we realize how important that support was for (Rotary After Five) to quickly become a solid part of Rotary in Grande Prairie.
We are also grateful for having 35 members with a new energy and a belief in “Service Above Self”. We look forward to our future especially when we are so fortunate to have such a young group of Rotarians.
Last, we are grateful for our city and all it has to offer. In the last few days, and always when the first snowfall arrives, there has been so much talk about “WHY DO WE ACTUALLY LIVE HERE”
All joking aside - I think we all know that answer. Although the weather is challenging at times, our homes are still standing and we haven’t lost loved ones because of fire, flooding, tornados or typhoons. Even within the province of Alberta that has not been the case. We are here because of the opportunities and the quality of life we share.
Rotary After Five wishes everyone a safe and happy holiday season and look forward to making a difference in the year ahead by following the theme of “Engage Rotary, Change Lives”.
