Treasurer Kathleen Crouse presenting a cheque to International Services Director Denise Ouellette on behalf the After Five Club. The money was part of a Multi Club donation totally $10,000.00 to help with a roof repair project in Peru. The project was headed up locally by Denise, Holly Sorgen and Lorraine Gabriel who worked with fellow rotarian Joe Gubbels now living in Chin Changa, Peru.Joe's Update on the project
We are progressing very rapidly with our Roof Repair project. We got all the frames built which means that we distributed all the posts and bamboos, dug holes for the posts, and nailed on the flattened bamboos. While this was going on, I taught the people to make the bottle lights and installed 22 bottle lights in the roofs. We received the 60 bags of cement and 1 load of coarse sand for the roof. I forgot if I told you that manure was very scarce in this area so we opted to finish the roof with concrete. We finished one roof and the rest will be done during this week.
