NEW GENERATIONS ROCKS!
As the Rotary Club of Kampala South prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary, it has embarked on a trail blazing quest of creating club history. First, it has geared up for the forthcoming New Generations month by sponsoring two new Rotaract clubs that will be taking on provisional status in September 2012.
One of the Rotaract clubs is institutional and will have its home in the International University of East Africa while the other is community based and will be meeting at Effendy’s Restaurant, Centenary Park, every Thurs-day, 6-7pm with effect from 30th August 2012.
On 24th August 2012, the Rotary Club of Kampala South was offered an opportunity to address and intro-duce the concept of Rotary and in particular Rotaract to the students of the International University of East Africa during the University’s orientation week. President Jane, New Generations Director Pat and Rotaractor Paul Atwine gladly accepted the opportunity and thrilled the students with an engaging and lively talk about Rotary and Rotaract which culminated in 56 young men and women signing up to form the provisional Rotaract club of IUEA. These 56 young men and women will form the initial membership base of this institution based club while the community club has so far identified 25 energetic young men and women all lined up to get it started.
This of course all follows closely on the heels of the chartering of the Interact Club of Bishop Mazzoldi Senior Secondary School which was secured earlier this month.
To sum it up, the Rotary Club of Kampala South is well placed to usher in the New Generations month – September - and to mark its 20th year of existence by investing in the future of Rotary – New Generations!
