The year was 2001, when members of the Rotary Club of Kampala South planted a mustard seed at Jjanyi Primary School. The seed was in the form of providing a better learning environment to the pupils in the Jjanyi community, Kajjansi along Entebbe Road.

During Phase 1 of work, a foundation was laid for a seven classroom block and library. This phase saw the completion & furniture provision of 4 classrooms, sanitation facilities and rain-harvesting equipment.

Phase 2 of work saw the completion & furniture provision of the library, stocking of books and provision of facilities for the physically handicapped children.

The two phases led to an increase in school enrolment and for the very first time, a 1st Grade was produced by the school since its inception.

This Rotary year, Phase 3 of construction works will be done and will see the completion of 3 classrooms, bringing the total number of classrooms constructed to 7 and 1 library.

Part of phase 2 and phase 3 works have been supported by the Oscar and Friends concerts.
