welcome to  another issue of the southern storm weekly bulletin

TALES OF THIS WEEK’S ROTARY MEETING - SME's

On a hot Monday evening, Mr. Tony Otoa was scheduled to speak to the Rotary Club of Kampala South about SME’s being the engine of Uganda’s Economy. By the time the Rotary norms were done, you could hear a pin drop as everyone logged on in eager anticipation of what Kampala South had served up. SME’s being dear to many, the club hosted a sell-out attendance of over 200 Rotarians from four (4) continents, as well as Rotaractors and friends of Rotary.

There couldn’t have been a better choice of speaker for this hot topic other than the current Executive Director of the Stanbic Bank Business Incubator Programme, a semi-autonomous entity of Stanbic Holdings. Evidently, he was drawing from his vast experience in enterprise development at Stanbic Bank and previously at Total E&P, plus his formative grounding in Busoga College Mwiri.

PAST PRESIDENTS LOUNGE
PP SUSAN MATOVU
Welcome back to our Past Presidents' lounge where we learn about  which moments and events made  our past leaders who they are today. This week we had an interesting interview with PP Susan Matovu, known to the club as Senga Sue and she shared her personal journey in the club as President.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
My name is Susan Matovu. My Rotary journey started as a member of the Rotaract Club of Kampala City, then later as a Rotarian in 1997 so it feels like I’ve been part of the Rotary fraternity forever! I was President of this Club for the year 2006/2007. Interestingly, three other Rotaract OG's and OB's of the Rotaract Club of Kampala City were Presidents in the same year – RC Ssese Islands, RC Kampala and RC Kampala North.

ON LINE MEETING ETIQUETTE AND DIGITAL HYGIENE
Compiled by  IPP  Peter Mukuru

The concept of transmitting images alongside audio in a communications exchange dates back over 150 years to the 1870's. Video conferencing technologies have developed more rapidly since 1927 to present day where almost every mobile computing device has capability for video conferencing or video calls. The biggest boost to the usage of such technologies could arguably be in the past 4-5 months with the advent of COVID-19 lock downs necessitating virtual meetings for majority of human interactions.
