Vocational Month
October is Rotary International’s Vocational Month. Vocational Service is one of Rotary’s Avenues of Service, which encourages Rotarians to serve others through their professions and to practice high ethical standards. Rotarians, as business leaders, share skills and expertise through their vocations and inspire others in the process
At Kampala South, celebration of our Vocations has been done throughout the year through classification defences, vocational awareness through speaker invitations and Rotarians commitment to the 4-way Test.
The Month of October will see us recognise an individual that has selflessly used her vocation to touch lives of the underprivileged in our society, a vocational visit to a real estate vocation and hosting of Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, Brittany Bennet from Virginia.
As Rotarians we have a duty to;
· Adhere to, and promote highest ethical standards in all occupations, including fair treatment of employers, employees, associates, competitors, and the public.
- Recognise the worthiness of all useful occupations, not just our own or those that are pursued by Rotarians.
- Contribute our vocational talents to the problems and needs of society.
- Promote the values expressed in The Four-Way Test and the Declaration for Rotarians in Business and Professions, which promotes high ethical standards in the workplace, a central theme of Rotary throughout its history.
The Vocational Services Directorate wishes you a wonderful October. We encourage all Rotarians this month and others after, to demonstrate the ideals of Rotary in our vocations and exhibit the much needed values that are enshrined in our Four-Way Test.
