Topic: Diabetes-not even children are safe
Monday, August 13, 2018, The Rotary Club of Kampala South fellowship started in time with President Ian presiding over the fellowship. An influx of Rotarians, Rotaractors from different clubs and guests filled the room ready to listen to our doctors.Rotarian Richard moderated over the session with Rotarian Jacqueline and Rotarian Doreen. He gave an overview on diabetes as a whole. “Not even children are safe” was Rotarian Jackline’s story. Her son was diagnosed with diabetes at a very young age. She has been solemnly responsible her son’s survival right from treatment and the kind of foods he ate. Her story was so touching. She mentions how it takes a village to raise a child in such situation because it takes a financial toll on parents during treatment.
Rotarian Doreen gave a twist to the topic of diabetes. She enlightens the adults on the kind of foods they ought to consume, and how they what weakens and destroys their bodies. She termed our addictive habits like taking Alcohol, eating excess meats "KUKA KALAYI” as NONSENSE!!!! Her expressions during the presentation “WOWED” the audience. The Immediate Past District Governor Ken noticed how good a presenter she was. A few questions were asked and responses given.
