THE LOW DOWN – KIMBERLY KASANA
She is warm, funny, pretty and totally in charge of the Family of Rotary. She is the embodiment of style but do not make a mistake to think that is all she is about, the girl ahs got skills. Come meet Kimberly Kasana.
ET: WHO IS ROTARIAN KIMBERLY?
KK: I was initially invited by PP Ebert to join Kampala South Rotarians at the maiden construction of the Jjanyi classroom block. I went MIA for sometime and later bumped into AG Aggrey at one of the fine occasions in Kampala and that’s when I was re invited back to Rotary. I was inducted on 17th August 2009 and loaned a classification of Financial Services.
ET: AND WHO IS KIM OUTSIDE ROTARY?
KK: I have been gifted with 7 year old amazing daughter called Talia Jasmine Byuki Katto, Am not good at numbering my friends because they’re all special to me in their various categories but I’ll just mention that Roma is my best friend and we have been friends for more than 15 years. My friends always say; I give them the comfort of feeling safe, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are, chaff and grain together; certain that I will take and sift them, keep what is worth, and then with a breath of kindness blow the rest away. They find me smart, kind and the kind of person who sticks to her principles.
ET: SHOW ME THE FUN KIM
KK: I like playing chess; am planning on starting a monthly 2 team chess hospitality, I enjoy swimming, reading exciting material, watching Rugby and watching movies
ET: DOWN TO BUSINESS
KK: Two things that really got me excited with Rotary:
1. The hands on approach: The positive change that Rotarians make in society, through the different projects and the physical participation during implementations was a great motivator for me.
2. The Fellowships and Friendship: The selflessness that Rotarians have towards the less privileged, the different speakers at every fellowship and the friends one meets every day makes the whole experience exciting.
ET: WHAT IS YOUR HIGHER CALLING?
KK: First is Business: For Gold Rock Investments to grow into an empire Secondly, in my personal life I want to start a baby’s home

2. Favorite Book: The Art of War
The book is basically about war; our lives are surrounded by war; economically, politically and at times personally. Sunn Tzu says "war is like fire; people who do not lay down their arms will die by their arms". War should be fought swiftly to avoid economic losses: "No long war ever profited any country: 100 victories in 100 battles is simply ridiculous. Anyone who excels in defeating his enemies, triumphs before his enemy's threat become real". According to the book, one must avoid massacres and atrocities because this can provoke resistance and possibly allow the enemy to turn the war in his favor
ET: CRAZY THINGS YOU HAVE DONE?
KK: At one of the hotels in Kampala, a security man tried to open my handbag and check. I took about 30 minutes advising him on how rude it is for a man to check a lady’s bag. He had to get the boss to intervene and since then a lady guard has been placed at the entrance of the hotel. My best friend calls me crazy after this incident, however I believe that it was for the greater good.
