THE LOW DOWN - FRANCESCA NAKAGGWA
She is the lady behind all the joyful and cheerful emails, she has an exotic name and a smile that lights up a room…this week we give you, Mrs. Francesca Nakaggwa Kakooza.
ET: WHO IS ROTARIAN FRANCESCA?
FNK: My entry into Rotary was kind of spontaneous. I always knew I would join Kampala South only I didn’t know when. So, one of those days I visited K’la South just to see what happens. After fellowship, I met up with my mentor (PP Ebert) and PP Anthony, they sold “sand to an arab”…the rest is history……My classification is bank Legal services. I have served the Club previously as Director PR.Currently, I serve on the PR committee and hope to serve in other capacities, as soon as I can get my “act” together!

ET: OUTSIDE ROTARY?
FNK: Iam a mother of two gorgeous girls, Ivana -Stephanie & Isabel –Solange (1.7years & 7months respectively,…go figure!). Iam married to my best friend Ivan Kakooza and we live on “Kaaro Karungi”, Seguku Katale. My family is crazy…(in a good way).On a given day, you’ll find Stephanie standing on the chair Iam seated on, making monkey faces at Isabel and pulling my hair at the same time. Isabel will be seated on her daddy’s lap cackling away at Stephanie. Their dad will be trying to regale me with some escapade at work over their voices…I like.
What do my friends say about me…..well mostly, they say Iam clueless/naïve! I tend to look at the world through tinted spectacles. Others say Iam humble while some others claim, Iam very ambitious and tenacious. For others Iam too much, I can juggle like a 1000 demanding things together and do them well while others say Iam resourceful…well I say….Iam blessed.
ET: FUN & GAMES
FNK: I love novels, I love movies and I love travelling!! Oh! I love dancing!!Pet peeves….I hate people who do not like pulling their weight…I hate people who judge without evidence….I hate slow drivers…sometimes I feel like screaming at them…”Get a move-on lazy bones, that new car will grow old someday…”
ET: DOWN TO BUSINESS
FNK: I have always been a sucker for “sad” stories. I always want to help people that are more unfortunate than I. In my S.6,a news story ran of a boy who had been so badly burnt by his step mother, it touched me so much I mobilized my school mates to contribute money so we could send it to him. We managed to collect 160,000/- or thereabout and sent it to him through Father chaplain. I joined Rotary in 2007 so I could get another platform to help where I can. I became a Rotarian in 2009 and will stay a Rotarian for the rest of my life because it is so worth it!
ET: WHAT IS YOUR HIGHER CALLING?
FNK: Ummph..in a nutshell.. I WANT TO BE STINKIN’ RICH!!!.Iam still planning my way there..watch this space.I also have this dream to work for World Bank or one of the organisations in the World Bank group, Iam working my way there too….I’ll give you invitation letters to come visit when that dream materializes(lolest)
ET: A WORD TO THE WISE
FNK:
· The world is not fair but God is good
· What a man can do, a man can do. (This is from my late father)(Don…this one means…if a man/woman did it, you too can do it)
ET: BOOKWORM
FNK: ( “The Monk who sold his Ferrari” R.Sharma-This is a great book about finding lifelong happiness/contentment. It has lessons about how to connect to the inner man to improve the life of the outer man and will give you the boost to get out there and be who you always wanted to be.
“How to be a Billionaire” Donald Trump-This is the only arrogant man I can stand!.He gives tidbits about how to join his club with various lessons on behaviour/conduct that will push you towards being a billionaire.
ET: CRAZY BIN
FNK: I tend to be crazy-shy…so the craziest thing I did was done in conjunction with others. I used to like eating in class in S.1,so one of those days, my Agriculture teacher caught me eating a potato pie a.k.a “kinyanda”.This teacher was a bully and he had this baritone voice, one look at him and you could pee in your pants, due to fright!.Coupled with that this was my 2nd month in school. He made me stand up in class and put up my “kinyanda” and proclaim to all and sundry..”this is my kinyanda…and this is my meat sumbi…I have been eating in class and will not do it again”….I died!
ET: LAST WORD
FNK: What you see is what you get, no “kanzaali” added!
