ImageAs the Intercity Conference cocktail took off in high gear, the Conference Chair AG Levi Abongo, the Co-Chair President Jane Bitek Langoya and the Conference Director of Program's PAG Caroline Abeja sneaked out to participate in a live radio talk show at Voice of Lango, FM 88.00.

ImageThe show, whose airtime was at no cost to the Rotarians, courtesy of the Voice of Lango Radio Station, was in Luo and was very well moderated by the presenter Ferdinand,. The trio was able to inform the listeners what Rotary is all about, how Rotary has helped humanity, with special emphasis on projects in Lira and the Lango region, and how one can join Rotary.

Listeners were able to appreciate that Rotary is not a 'rich man's club'. If one is not able to afford the dues, he or she could join a Rotary Community Corps, which does not have the financial rigours associated with the regular Rotary club but carry out Rotary work amongst the community.

The listeners were also informed of the conference the next day. Lira was chosen to host a conference with the theme ‘Promoting Peace through Access to Clean Water for Health, Sanitation, Hygiene and Development’. Lira was considered an ideal location for the conference because it had suffered during the years of rebel activities and unrest in Northern Uganda. The questions from the listeners show that the Rotary message was well understood and well taken.
