Progress at Kikandwa Health Centre
On Saturday, 10th August 2013, club members led by the service projects committee members visited the construction site of the Kikandwa Health Center to assess the progress of the works to date. Works have progressed with the completion of timber work for the roof and ceiling inside the building, and the roofing that was completed on Tuesday 13th August.
The first phase (pictured) of the Kikandwa Health Centre is at the level of a Government health centre III and includes: Three doctors’ treatment rooms, a laboratory, an emergency surgery room, a spacious waiting room and a pharmacy.
Among other proposals to improve the construction works, club members proposed that rain harvesting water tanks are installed as well as wash basins in all the doctors’ treatment rooms and the laboratory, and plumbing fittings should be complete before the plastering of walls is done. Members present also proposed that the community should be involved in the decision on roofing colours as well as paint colours for the entire centre as one way in which they will own the project.
The construction is under the supervision of the service projects committee members, namely: Rtn Ian Senkatuka, PP Joseph Baroraho, Rtn Wendy Kasujja, PP Don Byabazaire, PP Richard Mayebo and Rtn Prossy Nambi. They were accompanied to view the progress of works by: Club President, Esther Mwambu, Rtns: Daniel Bogere, Cyrus Aomu, Doneld Ndyabashanga, Kim Kasana, and Lilliane Iculet. Community members and construction workers were present too.
