Monday 19th September 2016 was yet another exciting evening at the Rotary Club of Kampala South as we discussed Pension systems in Uganda; and not surprising is that the focus was on "SAVING FOR RETIREMENT"...
Yes.....that's right; Let me break it down for you, R*E*T*I*R*E*M*E*N*T. That Monster most of you dread, especially when you have not sufficiently prepared for it. Am i communicating to some one? If yes, then you should have been at Kampala South on Monday. But if you were not, all is not lost as we bring you the highlights.
The Guest Speaker was a seasoned expert from Uganda Retirements Benefits Regulatory Authority (URBRA), Mr. David Nyakundi Bonyi - the CEO of URBRA. Mr. Bonyi elaborated on the Pension Systems in Uganda, the sector liberalization efforts, the Private Schemes Vs NSSF, and also shared tips on saving for your retirement.
URBRA is a government-owned, semi-autonomous agency responsible for regulating, licensing, supervising, and controlling the retirement sector in Uganda, the third-largest economy in the East African Community. The authority is also responsible for issuing guidelines to allow the liberalization of the retirement sector in the country.
Shock and happiness was in equal measure as the Guest Speaker's words sank deep into the minds of those in attendance.
...........And while all that was happening, some "devious" fellows also seized the moment to try out their "long hours practiced accent" just to impress the grand daughter of Sir Samuel Baker's neighbour's friend's cousin who was also the Queen's inlaw to the......................anyway its a long story, NEXT WEEK COME WITNESS 4YO SELF..............#SouthernHospitality..
