My Rotary Week

On Wednesday I had lunch break at RC Kampala West. They had Ruth from Micro Finance Support Center talking about the center and how SMEs can benefit from the Center. She also encouraged groups of people to get together and form SACCOs to able to benefit from the center's low interest rates. - Do I see a RC Kampala South SACCO / Rotary SACCO in the offing?
I was unable to sale a card. It Members were busy with cutlery!! I Saw David.K (Snr) have Lunch and enjoy fellowship; Ritah and Angella were in attendance.
Having not made any sales on Tuesday and Wednesday, i thought i would be successful on Thursday at RC Kampala Ssese. I joined Angella (I don't know who is following who). They had PDG Steven giving an update on the Cancer wing. He said we shall complete the building 1 year ahead of schedule. He commended all for good returns from the cancer run and that corporate had given generously. He said that the vision is now to ensure the wing is equipped; with personnel and turned into a center (for referrals) and have branches at regional level. You are all invited to prepare for 2013 Cancer Run in August that year - Train now!!
For men, we are informed that Victoria University and Uganda Cancer Institute at Mulago will be screening for prostate cancer every Wednesday and Friday respectively in this month of November. All those above 40 or almost there should make it point to go and test. Interestingly, the number of men (in that fellowship) that had taken a cancer test was bigger than the women!! (Hope the 4 way test applied) because ordinarily, it is expected that women are more health conscious than men!! - No offense meant brothers.
Having made no sales on Thursday, i though i would make a kill during the Foundation Dinner of Kajjansi at Chi Chi but wapi!
There with President Jane, PP David . K, PE Esther, PN David T, future presidents Hudson, Stanley and Allan, we were supported by Rotarians from Gaba to fill the South Table. The challenge is that Esther and I spent more time in the jam to the venue than at the dinner itself and therefore did not have chance to market.
Otherwise, the function was relatively well attended. The club managed to raise reasonably good amount of money towards the foundation (Could not wait for statistics coz it was late). Our Own Stanley promised to pay 1000 USD under RC Kampala South.
MD Aggrey, can i become a Major Donor by making humble contributions or do i have to pay the 10,000 USD in a lump sum? If the former is true, i see many MDs in this club since quite a number have made more than 1000 USD already. I however urge those of us who have not yet embarked on the journey to plan not to miss the inaugural flight this Rotary year.
What a week? Hope this week will be fruitful as the countdown to 17th seems not to be in my favor
