Grace Villa 2022

"A few days ago, our children excitedly waited at the gate & lined the road leading up to Grace Villa, our littlest ones smiling behind a “Welcome Back Rotary Club of Kampala South” sign. The anticipation!!! 

 

To me, it looked & felt like that scene out of “Sound of Music” where the children were chattering in the trees.

 

Then the guests arrived! Thank goodness they were just as enthusiastic & happy as the kids, & together they danced all the way home 💃🏽🕺🏾. 

 

We proceeded to have a very very beautiful day. I let the girls and staff take the reigns and they did a thorough job with planning. The day flowed. Proud of them. 

 

Nalumu Rachel who goes to Mengo SS was the MC & she was fantastic. Becky who’s at UCU was the DJ 👌🏾.

 

Miss Grace Villa introduced all our programs and the program leads were stationed all over Grace Villa, ready to give a tour and little presentations on Debate, Baking (which provided the snacks), Tailoring (which dressed the girls & made the decor), Dance, Farming, even Villawood Film School where they screened 2 of the mini documentaries that they did themselves.

 

Thank you Rotary for the way you have embraced our home & our children through the years.
 
Thank you for mentoring and praying with our children, for leaving our food stores full, for planting trees that will grow with our children & eventually give us mangoes, for the mushroom soup ☺️, for the new age appropriate story books for our library, beautiful clothes and shoes, sanitary pads and more.

 

And for buying our hoodies and other Kikazi - by Grace Villa merchandise. The girls made new friends that day, and were inspired by the conversations they had. 

 

That night during prayers, you could tell that our hearts were sooo.... full as they gave thanks. Becky who was fellowship lead emotionally said “who are we, that we get to receive such blessings in our home”.
