Delightful engagement with DG Geeta
A big woman but very humble
August 6, 2012, Hotel Africana, Zambezi room. It appears that Kampala South was the first port of call for the DG’s official visit.
The wind labored against the tinted aluminum framed glass windows. AG Sam Mwanje led DG Geeta into the board meeting. We exchanged pleasantries and she wanted to hang on every name.
Geeta was most interested in Service Projects, Membership extension and specifically the Tumani project.
She was thrilled by our preparations for the RCC’s at Nyacoonga and Nganjo Ddundu Ddewe. She had plenty of advice in expanding the reach while maintaining relevance to the intended beneficiaries.
The engagement was warm and most rewarding.
AG Sam made a rumbling introduction of the DG; I think she blushed a bit!
The club Assembly afterwards was electric! 129 people from over 28 Rotary, Rotaract and Interact Clubs attended. Not even the faulty microphone could diminish the seriousness with which business was conducted.
Her call to us was to support the Foundation and to invite many more people to answer the call to of service.
