Electricity, Literacy, both fundamental human rights and not privileges were evidently absent in a small town and community in Eastern Uganda, Busesa giving birth to the Kitakule foundation.
A foundation set up in an effort to promote education and health in rural and disadvantaged communities, the Kitakule foundation was set up in 2012 in honor of the vision of an ardent education advocate    the late Abaithar Kitakule.
Members of the Rotary club of Kampala South on the 5th of November 2021, visited and carried and engaged with a proposed RCC for a possible economic empowerment project in Busesa, a visit was made to the Hope Clinic which is supported by the Kitakule foundation to assess the possibility of equipping the centre through a global grant. Members also visited the library to look into the possibility of further contributing to equipping it.
The community which if supported would be sustainable venture and contribute to addressing four key rotary areas of focus including, Basic education and literacy from the community library, Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health through the hope clinic that the foundation supports and Economic and community development.
The warmth with which the members of the rotary club of Kampala South were received cannot be put to pen. The stories told by the young people in these communities, actual stories as we freely interacted with them of some of their life journeys and the impact the foundation has had on them so far, stories told through beautiful dance and through the faces and smiles off hopeful children clad in colourful costumes gave testimony to how lives had been transformed so far by the addressing of needs, community needs and the taking of services closer to the grassroot levels, an indication of how much more could be done if collaborative efforts were put in place.
Representatives of Members of the community thanked the rotary club of Kampala South for gracing them with their presence and were optimistic about further future engagements and collaboration on community projects.
The Ceremony was closed at 6:00pm and over 30 members of the RC of Kampala South were then hosted at an amazing home hospitality by PP Geoffrey Kitakule.
