As a country, we have registered one of the highest interest rates across the continent. Oscillating between 12% to 35% is not only unsustainable, but is also not practical, especially for our business environment. Not to mention the laborious process of loan application from banks. One can comfortably conclude that the business environment, with specific emphasis does not favor business and economic growth.
Recently, the government of Uganda adopted Islamic Banking, which has injected a breath of relief in the business community. Islamic banking operates on a different doctrine from the conventional banking.
We shall be blessed to host, our own, Rotarian Innocent Agaba, an established expert in Islamic Banking to enlighten us about Islamic Banking.
