The description capable entrepreneur popped into my mind as soon as Manish started sharing his story. He has a life-long love of learning. He hails from India and is a new member of the Rotary Club of Marina City.

In addition to energy and grit, Manish’s impressive qualifications include setting up his own business, Plymex Timber Pvt Ltd with the objective of importing timber into India as the domestic availability was insufficient for a growing economy. The import business thrived under his leadership skills and the company expanded in 2017 to Singapore.
While young, Manish understood the importance of having opportunities and resources and how these seemingly simple things can make a big impact on a person’s future and that is how his journey with Rotary began.

In 2006, Manish joined Round Table India which works very similar to Rotary except that it has a retirement age of 40. Manish said “I found the Round Table an easy organization to integrate into because there were like-minded individuals who were driven to make an impact. I enjoyed it so much that I held several executive roles in the club, created events to raise funds, and organized talk shows. I really enjoyed two of our talk shows. The first was with Robin Sharma, the writer of the best seller book, The Monk who Sold his Ferrari. The second was with Dr Deepak Chopra, the world renown author and alternative medicine advocate. These events drew such large crowds that we raised 4M INR (70,000 SGD). These events were amazing because of all the projects we could do to help people from the funds raised. Now that I am in Singapore, I am excited to be part of the Marina City Rotary Club and look forward to working together to improve the lives of people in our community.”
