Our Planned Sister-Club Visit to RC Osaka Oyodo

The festive season is approaching fastly - and soon thereafter preparations for the Chinese New Year will start. Time is flying! So, this is to announce that the club is organising a visit by (hopefully many) members of our club to the Japanese sister club Osaka-Oyodo. They will be celebrating their 40th anniversary early next year. The date for the celebration we already know: it will be Thursday, 21 February 2013. They will hold a reception starting at noon followed by some other meetings and events planned for the entire day. And the day will close by a big dinner reception.

We are aiming at leaving on a late-night flight to Osaka on Wednesday, 20 February. Flights usually leave short before or after midnight. We would arrive there in the morning. Albeit may be a bit taxing on us all, the day of arrival will be fully planned and booked with the above-outlined events (details to follow).

On Friday and Saturday (22 and 23 February), the members of the Osaka-Oyodo club wish to show us around in the city and also in the vicinity of Osaka. That depends on how far we want to go. There is the historic icon city of Kyoto nearby - and also the even more ancient city of Nara. But also travelling South (a one-day bus tour only) there are scenic mountains found with very old temples (8th century) and other historic sites.

Some may wish to stay longer. The first to depart would possibly be those leaving on Sunday, 23 February around noon. For the others: From skiing in the Japanese Alps to going South by Shinkan-sen to Kyushu for the hot springs and traditional hotels ... to a 3-hour trip by Shinkan-sen to Tokyo.
