Rotary International District 3310 Distributed 17,000 Gerbera Daisies to Celebrate Nurses’ Day

It is nurses who support us during some of the biggest moments of our lives. When we are born, when we are growing up and need shots, when we get sick, and when we are cared for at the end stage of our journey.

Over the past several months, these fearless men and women have supported our nation during one of its most demanding periods. Some of these nurses took on the challenge to care for Covid-19 patients while still managing their own lives and caring for their own families.

According to the Ministry of Health, there were over 42,777 nurses in Singapore in 2019. This year SingHealth announced that they were not able to celebrate Nurses’ Day due to Covid-19.

Rotary District 3310 decided that it did not want to let this annual appreciation day pass without recognizing these fearless heroes. Rotary Clubs in Singapore worked together to spread joy to nurses on by distributing 17,000 stalks of Gerbera Daisies to nurses at 27 healthcare facilities.

The Rotary Club of Marina City joined the effort and on the 29 July President Heinrich Grafe, District Governor DG Mohan, Past President Richard Ong, Past President Agnes, Past President Lye Wah, and Community Service Director Mary Kwok, visited Singapore General Hospital and National Dental Centre to give Gerber Daisies to Nurses.
