Marina City Installation Dinner
The club held its annual installation dinner at the Conrad Centennial Hotel on 4 July 2019. Rotarian James is the new President for 2019-2020 year. He delivered an inspiring message to members and guests.
The event saw two distinguished guest speakers, Guest of Honor IPDG Henry Tan and Gerard Ge, Executive Director at Beyond Social Services. Ge shared Beyond’s purpose which is to support the lowest-income families in Singapore by helping them gain an awareness and understanding of their challenges, to take ownership and to act on the challenges. Ge said, “Beyond believes that social disadvantages faced by low-income are not imaginary and this truth together with its approach sits well with the Rotary 4 way test.”

The club lauded its president for the Rotary year 2018/2019, Penelope, and recognized her outstanding leadership qualities, friendly disposition, and boundless energy. The club executed several key projects during Penelope’s year
- Joint event with RC Bugis Junction to bring joy to residents of Sree Narayana nursing home
- 23 February Rotarians dished out local delights and conducted games for senior community members at St Hilda’s center
- Sponsored a new Rotaract Club named the Rotaract Club of Choa Chu Kang
- Participated in painting walls at the Terusan Camp to remind migrant workers of “home”
- Donated and participated in the Swimming Doctors project in Myanmar in January 2019
- In conjunction with the Conrad Centennial Singapore sponsored lunch for 28 children from Yew Tee CDAC
For the evening entertainment, Andrew Paul Chen, singer & songwriter sang for the club. The new Club President joined the budding young artist and sang a few songs with him.
The installation dinner was a fun filled night and was a successful club fundraiser, too. The club took in a net sum of $7800. This money will be used for the club’s charitable projects during the year.
