The Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Rotary Club held their annual 4-Way Speech contest on March 23rd at the Hollenstein Career and Technology Center. There were five contestants from Boswell High School, Saginaw High School, and Chisholm Trail High School. A special thank goes to Todd Flippo for being the master of ceremonies and arranging for the beautiful food served. Thanks to EMS ISD Administrator and fellow Rotarian Walter Berringer for coordinating the facility and reaching out to the teachers. Judges Keith Rinehart, Jan Young, and Kay Carroll are thanked for taking time out to come to listen and judge the students on their educational speeches.

Each contestant applied Rotary International’s 4 Way Test principles to a current ethical issue in their speech. In addition, students were asked to identify a topic they feel passionate about and adopt a perspective from which they will seek to persuade others. Each speech was about a subject of the student’s personal experience or general knowledge, and there were no restrictions regarding the choice of topic.

Congratulations to our winner Madison Huertas from Saginaw HS!

Our other participants were:
