CHECK OUT WHAT WE’RE UP TO THESE DAYS…
On January 15, we hosted the January Students of the Month from Red Lion, Grace Jordan, and Lincoln Coppage. And from Dallastown, Ryana Zhelezov and Saisha Jindal represented. The students were accompanied by their parents and counselors.
These students spoke about their community service efforts, sports/extracurriculars, favorite classes, and secondary education goals.
We wish them so much success in pursuing their dreams and goals!

At our December 18th meeting, we recognized our December Students of the Month.

Zoe Roland and Lexa Stiles joined us from Dallastown. Alivia Ludwig and Sadie Tompkins joined us from Red Lion. They shared their current community service efforts, school groups, favorite classes and post graduation plans (as of right now).

We wish these ladies all the best for the rest of their junior year, and as they head into their senior year.

October Students of the Month joined us today at our meeting. We welcomed 3 students today from Dallastown and Red Lion.
Isabella Lacerda, from Dallastown, told us about the work she does in Interact Club in school and how she's planning to try the high jump this year in track and field!
Kaydee Kline , from Red Lion, shared that she recently joined the NHS, and explained what she loves about being a wrestler.
Teagan Myers, from Red Lion, shared about the work she does with volunteering with the VFW and that she plays in the band!
All the girls shared their after high school goals, and we wish them well as they finish out their high school days and look ahead to the future.
Keep up the great work ladies!
November ushered in with thankfulness and blessings. We were especially thankful for the Students of the Month.
Three students from Dallastown joined us this month. All three are in the Junior Class and are Rion Nogel, Elliott Baldwin and Gabriel Annan. They shared with us their community service, extracurriculars, favorite classes, and post graduation plans at this time. These kids are up to some great things! We look forward to seeing what they accomplish.

Yesterday, members of our club headed out early in the morning to clean up our roadway.  They collected 16 bags of trash, a broken toilet, numerous large items, and a pallet!

Thank you for volunteering to help keep our community clean!

At our field trip this week, we visited Adamsville UMC. Tucked away between Red Lion and Dallastown, we learned about this church that recently celebrated 150 years, as well as learned about the village of Adamsville from long-time resident Nancy. Nancy has been attending Adamsville UMC for over 70 years, and recently celebrated her 92nd birthday! Nancy shared how the village used to be with hotels, one one-room schoolhouse, cigar factories, a barbershop, and even a Centennial Barn that was used for weddings and parties.

Our members listened in awe of what this tiny village once held within it. Thank you, Nancy Amspacher and Adamsville UMC, for hosting us and filling us in on the history of this horseshoe-shaped village.

Today at our meeting, we welcomed our first Students of the Month for this school year.

Caleb E. and Ben F. from Dallastown Area School District
Ciona K. and Natalie A. from Red Lion Area School District

Caleb told us about his trip to Nicaragua last Christmas to serve food. Ben told us about the non-profit he started over the summer with a friend to help provide shoes to students in schools.

Ciona is the Student Council President and will be presenting at tonight's School Board meeting. Natalie told us about her musical hobbies, including various bands, the chorus, and musicals!

We love hearing about the students in our club's districts and the wonderful ways they are giving back to the communities in a variety of ways!

Our First Week Field Trip for September took us to the Red Lion Mile to see the bench that former member, Michael Chrzanowski, and current member, Ki Groh, helped to place.  The project is being lead by Chrzanowski and Groh along with Red Liob Borough as an effort of collecting trash and exchanging it for a bench.  1,000 lbs of trash needs to be collected and then traded in order to have the bench made by a company affiliated with TREX® .  Red Lion Borough then places a plaque on the bench and installs the bench within the Borough.  At this point the Rotary Club of Red Lion-Dallastown has the first of eight projected benches to be placed along the Red Lion Mile.

If you would like to have a bench program for your Town or Borough, reach out to Ki Groh or Michael Chrzanowski for more information.

At the April 24th meeting, we hosted our Students of the Month.  The counselors from both schools select students based on their volunteer experience in and out of school, academics, and upstanding character.

Rotary Youth Leader Academy Students Share Their Experiences

Join us as we about RYLA from our most recent group of students that we supported this year.  Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs and districts where young people can develop leadership skills while having fun and making connections.  Each year, our Rotary Club sponsors two students from Red Lion Area School District, and two students from Dallastown Area School District.

Do you know a student that would be a good fit for RYLA?  Ask them to talk to their Guidance Counselor for the next steps and to be involved.
