Rotarians, Past and Future Volunteers
This year I am working with Dan Martinez and leading the effort to coordinate volunteers for the 18th annual Yuba-Sutter Pink October 5K Walk/Run which takes place on Saturday, October 3th at Geweke Field in Yuba City. I would like to personally thank each of you who volunteered last year or in the past and hope we can count on you again. Last year was another success. More than 1,000 people participated with more than $25,000 donated to the Geweke Caring for Women Foundation.
I am looking for 35 to 40 volunteers to be course marshals along the 5K route and to assist with parking before the event. The course marshal assignment is to monitor the intersections along the route, to provide safe passage for the participants, to stop and redirect neighborhood traffic around the course, to safely direct residential traffic within the closed course, and to cheer on the participants. Course marshal volunteers are asked to arrive at Geweke Field by no later than 7:00 a.m. Volunteers should check in with me at the volunteer table for assignments. After receiving assigned locations, volunteers are to report to their locations on the course by no later than 7:30 a.m.; the race starts at 8:00 a.m. Again this year you can pick up your course assignments from me any time during the week before the race and then you can go directly to your location on the course the day of the race rather than first checking in at the track. The race/walk should be over by 9:30 a.m. After the race all volunteers are welcome to attend the free pancake breakfast/awards ceremony at the Geweke Ford Dealership. Parking is available at the dealership, Gray Avenue Middle School and the south end of Geweke Field. I can provide parking directions upon request.
