Please book Wednesday Jan 6, 2021 at 2:00 PM for a Rotary Auction Committee Meeting:

  1. Can people bid without registering themselves?
    • No, in order to bid, one must register.
                         It is good to know.
  1. Can people bid without an account?
    • Yes, but they must still register.
So having an account is different from having registered. Question: Is that an account with Auctria.com or is it with our Rotary club.
  1. We have not pitched our ticket sales yet. But in any case, we should make it as easy to bid as possible, therefore tickets should not be a condition to bid.
    • Ticket Sales (Donation Sales) are not a criteria to bid.
                         Yes, good to know.
  1. Terms of bidders: Is there a template or we have to draft it ourselves.
    • It appears the answer is no template, we have to draft it ourselves.  Auctria says:  Enter text to be shown alongside the standard terms of use link guests must agree too.
You told me but I have not yet looked into it.
  1. Opt in permission: I need your explanation.
    • My understanding is if you turn on the 'opt in permission' then people have a choice to get emails about the auction.  I would prefer to not turn this on and can 'opt out' if they want to later.
Hmm, if it is turned on, that means the bidder can later get email from us, it may not be a bad idea when we want to make an email blast.
  1. Can Guests bid?
    • To place online bids, yes, guests are required to have a bidder record that contains an email address.  When a guest registers online, a bidder record is created in the system with their email and password.  Guests can be manually added on the dashboard and be sent a bidder invitation (to create a password) or an access token (no password is entered) to access the online website in either case an email address is required.  Only one bidder record should be created per email address - unless the bidders are linked (see Link vs Merge Bidders?). If two "unlinked" guests try to sign in using the same email address the software cannot identify which bidder is trying to sign in and will decline access.
Thank you for the clear explanation.
  1. Are we making charge cards mandatory at registration?
    • Need to discuss - If we are going to allow 'sending in a check' then we can not make it mandatory.
I think we should make credit cards mandatory for non members of RC Walnut Grove.  Then can we make special concessions for people say like Rusty Areias. Thanks/ Regards Douglas
