We met at Mardi Gras Lanes on 6-13-15 to “fire”, “debunk”, kick out”, “demote”, pick your term, President Paul Schubert.

There were about 35-40 Rotarians, Spouses and Young Future Rotarians (thank you for bringing them ) there for the food, fun, fellowship, demoting and bowling.

Past President Jerry Foote opened the session.  He, wisely, said that Beth Walter was in charge and turned the meeting over to Lady Beth.

Beth reminded us that Paul is still in charge until 6-30-15 so he is the responsible person.

We then proceeded to avail ourselves of a great buffet that included Pasta, Pulled Pork, Barbecued Chicken, Sautéed Veggies, Baked Beans, Rolls, Muffins, Potato Salad and Caesar Salad with both Chocolate and Lemon Cakes for dessert.

After the meal, Past President Joe Scheimer was given the gavel.  He proceeded to talked about a “stolen” computer with “stolen” software along with missing passwords some of which were President Paul’s “thing” during his term of office.  Joe then smashed, and I do mean smashed, the computer and said that we were “done with technology”.  This will probably set our club back into the 1970’s.  Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.

In an attempt to restore some sense of normality to the event, Jerry Foote praised President Paul and his Board of Directors for a very successful year.

Beth Walter then presented a “Crown of Stars” to President Paul which he “got” to wear.  She also presented “Poundin’ Paul Schubert” with a ”Bowling Trophy” for his year as President of the Rotary Club of Rancho Cordova.

In recognition of his position as the General Manager of the Golden State Water Company and based on the massive draught we are experiencing, Paul was given 30+ bottles of water to help ease his work load.

He also received an “8 in 1 tool” to ease his workload, the book “Collapse” to help him remember what to do now this his year as President is over, some “Chill Pills”, a Bar “Bell”, a bottle of Crown Royal and 2 tickets to the upcoming Senior Open golf tournament.

Donna, Paul’s much better half, received a bottle of wine for loaning her husband to us for the past year.  Thank you  Donna.

Almost” Past President Paul took a few minutes to talk about his “learning year” as President and how the most important thing he learned was how to deal with “Smart Alec’s”, or as some might say, “Old Fart Rotarians”.

President Paul then proceeded to recognize his team for the past year with gifts for each of them;

Beth Walter as Treasurer

Jerry Foote as Beth’s alter ego

Melody Mayer as Public Relations Director

Pat Braziel as Director of Administration and a Sergeant-at-Arms

Neil Orchard as Director of Service Projects

PDG Clarence Parkins as Foundation Chair and a Sergeant-at-Arms

PDG Sam Anderson as Newsletter Editor and a Sergeant-at-Arms

John Chapman as a Sergeant-at-Arms

Ross Johnson as a Sergeant-at-Arms

Tom Redmon as a Team Leader

Brud Dufficy as a Team Leader

Navin Naik as a Team Leader

Joe Scheimer as a Team Leader

President Paul concluded the evening by thanking everyone for their help and efforts during his year and letting us know that Joe Scheimer would be acting in his stead at the 6-23-15 meeting but assured us that he would be back to finish up his year on 6-30-15.

There being no further business, the session was adjourned to the bowling alley where a good time was had by all.
