The Effie Yeaw Nature Center is more than a destination—it is a living legacy. Named in honor of Effie Yeaw, an educator and passionate conservationist, the center reflects her enduring commitment to curiosity, learning, and stewardship of the natural world.

For generations, the Nature Center has served as a place where people of all ages can connect with nature, deepen their understanding of the environment, and discover the rich ecosystems of the American River Parkway. Through educational programs, exhibits, and immersive experiences, we inspire our community to appreciate, protect, and care for the natural spaces that sustain us.

As the Interpretive Center of the American River Parkway, we are proud to serve as a gateway to one of the region’s most treasured natural resources—helping visitors explore, learn from, and preserve this remarkable landscape for future generations. 

The American River Parkway Foundation (ARPF) is a Sacramento 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization whose mission is to lead and inspire the community to conserve and nurture the American River Parkway as a unique, accessible resource for everyone to enjoy. 

The ARPF vision is for the American River Parkway, which spans 23 miles and 4,800 acres, to be one of the nation’s premier urban natural parks.

Our vision is to create a welcoming center where our friends and neighbors who are facing food insecurity can access healthy food at no cost with ease and dignity. Hunger is a growing problem across the country and right her at home in Rancho Cordova. The new Orangevale History Museum fulfills part of the purpose of the Orangevale History Project (OHP) which is to preserve, chronicle and promote the history of Orangevale, California, and educate the community thereof. Thanks to the Orangevale Recreation & Park District, OHP can now house and share the unique history of this community.
