Community Service

COMMUNITY SERVICE is the heart of our club

Our members live and breathe community service. Our club strives to have many types of projects so that each member can participate in a way that calls them. Some projects are working outside, working with youth, fundraising opportunities. Our club has been recognized by the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce 2021 Non-Profit of the Year due to our many service projects that benefit Elk Grove. Please see some of the many examples of our community work below.
Some of our community service projects:
Elk Grove Food Bank / Thanksgiving Drive Through
We have a monthly Elk Grove Food Bank donation campaign amongst members where we donate specific items to meet the month's theme. In addition to monthly giving, we have also organized a Thanksgiving Drive Through to benefit clients of the Elk Grove Food Bank during the November holiday.
Foster Youth
Foster youth have a special place in the hearts of our members. We have organized shopping trips with foster youth that are moving into adulthood to help them with their necessities.
Our club organizes the Shop with a Cop event that brings together the Elk Grove Police, Cosumnes Fire Department and other heroes to shop with school age foster youth for the holidays.
Our club organizes Fish with a Firefighter that brings together Cosumnes Fire Department with school age foster youth to build good will.
Dictionaries for third graders
Our club provides hard bound picture dictionaries to third graders attending Title I schools in the Elk Grove area. We teach them how to use the dictionaries to look up words using fun word games during the school dictionary distribution event. Often these dictionaries are the first hardbound book that students can call their very own.
Interact /Teen Center
Our club created the first community based Interact in the world. Students learn leadership and interpersonal skills while completing community service projects, such as assisting with the Elk Grove Food Bank, Chicks in Crisis, Taste of Elk Grove and Beef and Reef.
Chicks in Crisis
Our club organizes events that benefit Chicks in Crisis such as diaper donation drives, volunteer at CIC events and assist with facility upkeep around their facility as needed.
Park Clean Up
Our club organizes park clean up activities in the Elk Grove area such as: pruning bushes, pick up trash, pulling weeds and other maintenance as requested.
Speech Contest
Our club hosts a speech contest for high school students typically held at the City of Elk Grove's Council Chambers. The speeches normally are centered around the Rotary theme of the year. The winner of our contest is able to progress in the district to the semi-finals representing our Club.
Sock and Underwear Drive
Our club organizes a sock and underwear drive that benefits students who are experiencing homelessness in the Elk Grove Unified School District.
Blood Drive
Our club organizes a blood drive to benefit Vitalant. Our club members are regular blood donors who give all throughout the year.
