Meeting notes July 24
In before the meeting comments, we heard Janine and Bruce complain about the weather and learned that Jules and President Art go to the same gym.  I am guessing it is not the Alaska Rock Gym.  We also learned that Janine is tracking all our pledges given in happy bucks and fines…
President Art called the 24 participants to order promptly at noon.  Group included visitor Rashswandra Jett formerly from Nome.  Carl Schroeder led us in the Pledge.  Then Jay Tung gave the Thought for the Day.  He grumbled that he had one hour to think of something and haste made him think of the Navy.  The ship that burned for most of the last week the US Bonhomme Richard, named for the Navy’s first ship. That brought several naval related sayings.  Among them were “I have not yet begun to fight” and “Small leaks sink great ships” and your editor’s favorite “Well done is better than well said.”
Nina Mann was happy she didn’t do any more damage to herself than she did removing the wire ties holding a dog kennel Toni Holmes brought with her from Mexico.  She ended up at the ER and some thoughtful person, remembering Nina and Toni’s work history asked if that was Pet Emergency?  It was not.  Tim Trueblood was happy for the truck load of computers donated by Tim Ellis of Stellar Design for the North Star School computer project.  Much appreciated!  Kevin Fimon pledged $10 as a make up for his time spent subsistence dip netting and harvesting rhubarb.  Bruce E. was happy for last week’s speaker and advised that he and Becky Erickson are recruiting for, and attending precinct workers and training for August 18th primary and general elections.  Steve Strait has been contacted by John Spaulding asking when we are going to resume regular meetings.  Steve briefed him and offered to demonstrate how to participate in our Zoom meetings. That is a non-starter for Mr. Spaulding.  Immediate Past President Angie is twenty dollars happy to be sending her boy off to college in Montana.  Finally, Ted Trueblood is happy to the tune of $10 for his upcoming makeup in St. Petersburg RU, rekindling friendships made during his term as District Governor.

Program notes from last week’s presentation by Member Jules  Tileston
Chugach National Forest was established in 1907 and the program was slides and commentary from Jules about Resurrection Bay and Prince William Sound, all within the Chugach.  Program was spectacular and reminds us that now and then Zoom can be better than a face to face meeting.  The quality of images by Jules was better seen on our personal screens than on a distant grainy screen at the Coast.  Jules presents about once a year and it is always a wonderful program!
