Good morning all. I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families. I am reaching out to you because of a challenge that the Rotary Club of Verrettes is facing with getting the bank account for this global grant opened in Haiti.

With the new government put in place in January of this year, came new regulations and fees. The new fee for obtaining the paperwork from the Ministry in Port au Prince to open a bank account in Haiti (forgetting about the incredible difficulty in actually obtaining the required paperwork) went from $1,000 Haitian Gourdes (approximately $15 US) to $19,000 Haitian Gourdes (approximately $300 US). In addition, the bank is requiring the Rotary Club of Verrettes to open the account with $500. This presents the Rotary Club of Verrettes with a commitment of $800 just to open the account for this grant. They are a small rural club with, I am sure, very limited excess funds. I am wondering what can be done to assist them in this effort? Is the Rotary Foundation able to forward funds to provide them to open the account? Is my Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Riverside Sunrise, able to forward them funds to open this account? What can be done? This Haitian account has been the greatest obstacle to getting this grant funded and underway. HELP!!!! Thanks…….Nyron
