Alaska Air National Guard Col. Anthony D. Stratton, the current commander of the Alaska Air National Guard’s 176th Wing, salutes presiding officer, Brig. Gen. Scott A. Howard, assistant adjutant general and commander, Alaska Air National Guard, after receiving the wing’s guidon from outgoing commander Brig. Gen. Darrin E. A command pilot, Stratton flew C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster III aircraft and later served as the director of operations for the Alaska National Guard joint staff, prior to his role as commander of the wing’s 176th Maintenance Group.
 
Col. Anthony D. Stratton was born Aug. 12, 1968 in Missoula, Montana, and has lived in the Alaska communities of Barrow, Fairbanks and Anchorage. He currently resides in Palmer with his wife Lorena and two daughters, Sabrina and Katrina. He graduated from Service High School in 1986 and enlisted in the Alaska Air National Guard in February of 1988 as a C-130 Hercules propulsion system specialist. Colonel Stratton received his commission from the Academy of Military Science in October of 1990 and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage in December of 1993. He is a command pilot, qualified in both the C-130 Hercules and C-17 Globemaster III, and has served in a multitude of operational and support positions within the Alaska National Guard.
