Dear Rotarians and Sponsors,

My name is Akila Amala. I am a Rotary Youth Exchange student from the Indonesia who is currently attending Anchorage South High School and representing the Anchorage International Rotary Club. Rotary’s motto is Service Above Self and one of their objectives is to encourage and promote the advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.  With this in mind, one of my projects with RYE is to fundraise $500 or more for ShelterBoxUSA. Not only have I learned that ShelterBox is the largest global project partner with Rotary International, but I now know that ShelterBox has helped more than 29,000 people in 2016 whose homes were devastated by disaster and conflict. In 2017 they helped families after Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria as well as continuing support to families experiencing conflict in Syria, Pakistan, Cameroon and Somaliland.

I would very much appreciate your sponsorship of me sleeping in the ShelterBox tent at the restart of the Iditarod dogsled race Saturday night March 3rd.  We will be staying near Willow on the property of Tryg and Kim Erickson with the supervision of Nancy Dodge, RYE Child Protection Officer and Ambassador to ShelterBoxUSA.  All monies will go directly to ShelterBoxUSA.

Thank you very much for your support. If you would like more information about ShelterBoxUSA, I would encourage you to go to www.shelterboxusa.org

Yours in service,

Akila Amala
