Service isn’t just a Rotary motto — it’s the foundation of our club culture. The Rotary Club of Millbrae is deeply committed to supporting our local community while contributing to global efforts that improve lives around the world.

We’re proud to organize and participate in a wide range of hands-on service opportunities. These efforts are made possible by the time, talent, and generosity of our members, partners, and supporters.

Local Impact

From family-friendly events to youth-focused programming, our local service projects bring people together and meet real community needs.

Kids Carnival
Every October, our popular carnival brings over 300 children and families together for games, treats, and entertainment. In 2024, Boswick the Clown returned to delight kids of all ages.

Spring Festival
In partnership with the Mills High School Interact Club, this event celebrates the season with crafts, activities, and a community egg giveaway. When weather threatened the fun, our team adapted quickly — and the sun showed up too.

Volunteer Support & Recognition
We regularly support city-sponsored efforts like Coastal Cleanup Day, park beautification projects, and city events, while recognizing volunteers across Millbrae for their ongoing contributions.

Millbrae Rotary Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament
One of our biggest fundraising events of the year, the Mayor’s Cup supports Millbrae Recreation’s Youth Scholarship Fund and Rotary’s youth service programs. In 2024, over 130 attendees helped double our fundraising total. The event featured golf, dinner, entertainment from Millbrae's own Garcia brothers (as seen on The Voice), and a record-breaking silent auction.

Student & Educator Recognition
We honor local students and teachers at select luncheons throughout the year, shining a light on the individuals who shape our city’s future.

Lunar New Year Celebration
A beloved annual tradition that celebrates cultural diversity and community connection.
Mayor’s Cup Golf Tournament
A cornerstone fundraiser and social event that funds youth programming and city recreation scholarships.

Global Impact

The Rotary Club of Millbrae actively participates in international projects by allocating funding and collaborating with clubs across the world through Rotary’s Global Grants program.

In 2024, we contributed $12,000 in District Designated Funds (DDF) to six global grants across three key focus areas:

Education

  • $3,000: Digital learning tools for 800 tribal girls in Andhra Pradesh, India (RC Burlingame)

  • $3,000: PrimeBooks for students in India (RC Foster City)

Water & Sanitation

  • $1,500: Community drinking water project in Nepal (RC Novato)

  • $1,500: Water purification system for a girls’ school in Kenya (RC Novato Sunrise)

  • $1,500: Irrigation aqueduct in Morocco (RC San Carlos)

Health

  • $1,500: Medical and dental program for women and children in the Philippines (RC San Bruno)

In addition, we transferred our remaining $1,517 in DDF to the Rotary Foundation Disaster Response Fund, supporting immediate relief efforts in crisis zones around the world.
