Prior to joining One World, August served as a Senior Public Health Officer for the United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Bureau for Global Health -- Emerging Threats Division. Here, August led multi-million dollar programmatic efforts in Africa and Asia, and worked closely across United Nations and U.S. government agencies, most acutely during the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa. During his tenure at USAID, August traveled to over 19 countries to promote the Agency’s programs confronting emerging pandemic threats. In 2015, August was appointed to a leadership role in the White House’s Global Health Security Agenda -- a 50-country initiative, focused on combating infectious diseases worldwide. 
 

August’s professional background also includes roles at Beyond, a design, technology & ideas company based in San Francisco, California, and English language instruction in both South Korea and Cambodia. August received his Master’s in engineering management from the George Washington University and his Bachelor’s of Arts in history from Boston College. He currently resides in Vermont with his wife, Nadia, and their children, Zeke and Inés.
